Dear retraced community,
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread and to have a drastic impact on people's health, safety, and livelihoods, we find ourselves continuously pausing to reflect during this time of change and concern. Many families and communities around the world are facing dire new challenges, as we all try to come together- while remaining apart - to help fight this crisis.
The fashion industry, like many others, is also dealing with the ramifications of COVID-19. From numerous conversations with brands and suppliers in the last weeks, we learned that lots of stakeholders in the industry have been affected. Especially small businesses and brands who aim to share their beautiful stories of their supply chains. Brands are left with whatever stock they have left, and no new orders are being made to manufacturers and suppliers. Besides that, retailers have had to close their doors, too. As a result, not only the supply chains but also the sales side is struggling. As the pandemic continues and clothing manufacturing faces decline, the most vulnerable stakeholders at the furthest end of the supply chain stand to be the most affected, as their wages and means to provide for their families are threatened. Especially now, it becomes more important than ever to support the brands that know their suppliers and manufacturers and stand by their side even in difficult times like these.
The retraced team is committed to building a community of trustworthy brands, skilled suppliers, and people who want to promote change in the way we consume things and make things. Now, more than ever, transparency, teamwork, and easy-access to honest information are vital to supporting this mission.
We remain hopeful. We are confident that, together, we will get through this. It's been uplifting to see so many acts of compassion and of camaraderie from people all over the world. We plan to keep that same energy flowing within retraced - working hard to keep our social mission on track and our spirits high. At the same time, observing the governmental guidelines in place to help keep our employees, our neighbors and our loved ones safe. While the journey will continue to be a tough one, we are optimistic that, together, as a global, connected community, we will continue to make strides toward combating the effects of the crisis and continue to help each other through these uncertain times.
Stay healthy, stay hopeful.
